i'm trying to get to the DB25 that connects to the armrest and the cdchanger cable, etc.
bentley is COMPLETELY USELESS YET AGAIN.
thanks!
i have the trunk liner out. do i really have to remove the rear seats, side bolster and the trim around the hatch?
i can't even get the trim around the hatch off.
stupid audi. :-)

here is bentley's way. WTF? useless.
(my comments following asterisks)
Left and right-side trim, removing and installing
- Remove side panel Page 72-75 .
*this actually links to "side bolster" which is by the rear seat. they want me to remove the rear seat, bend up a tab under the bottom of the bolster then lift straight up... i think. i'll try that now without removing the seat.
- Remove tailgate seal in area of loading edge/side panels.
*this doesn't seem necessary. got the loading edge out and broke one of the clip's retention mechanisms. don't see how it's possible not to.
- Remove loading edge Page 70-103 .
*done.
- Lift front edge of cover for seat belts and unclip.
*no prob.
- Lift up cover for latch bracket for rear backrest.
*"pc load letter?" WTF does that mean?
- Remove cap.
*Disassembling tie-down Page 70-104 .
this means "remove the tie-downs which are obvious and have screws in them. who wrote this crap?
- Remove bolts (arrow).
*one of those arrows points to the seat back top anchor as far as i can tell. i doubt it's torque is 13 in lbs???
Tightening torque: 1.5 Nm (13 in. lb)
- Unclip side trim and pull up and over belt guide and latch bracket.
- If changing completely, disassemble seat belt webbing underneath rear seat.
more soon...

argh. i should have just pulled the changer bracket thingy out and i would have probably seen the db25 connector for the armrest sitting there.
so: avant people: no need to pull the PITA side rear panel to get at the db25 connector.
oh, and our subwoofer is on the driver's side too. who knew?
good news: icelink works.
bad news: too much work for nothing, icelink is old version, gotta upgrade. but i'm gonna mount it all back there.
lou brucker, others: i'll post in the audio forum too, but, do you know if we need all 8 pins coming out of the back of the icelink? we have just that many going to the armrest, but i wanted switched power and ground to come seperately as well for my phone.
