Default AWE Boost Gauge Install???

Before i buy the gauge i wanna be sure i kno how to install it properly. Ive read all the DIY articles and im confused about one part. which is where the red power wire connects to. Do i just put a loop terminal on it and attach to 75x? the awe guide said sumthing about stripping green and white wires. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Guys

I'm not familiar with the particulars of the AWE kit but the gauges are all pretty much the same. You have several options for the power tap but the best one is the "power on" junction under the interior trim piece above the pedals.

This gives the gauge power only when the key is at or past the accessory position. Obviously, you will also need to close the circuit by tapping into the negative terminal - this is pretty much anything that bolts into the metal frame. I use one of the bolts in the fusebox by the drivers side door.

i like to connect guage lights to something that turns on when the headlights are on, that way they light up with the rest of the gauges

Yes, attach a loop connector to the red wire and the black ground wire as well. The other wires (green etc..) come already stripped. The install is not too bad and took me around 3.5 hours to read the instructions and to do the whole install. I was going really slow at the time b/c it was my first time dealing w/ wiring and electronics in the car. You can probably do it faster, but the job does take longer than 1.5 hours if you are anything but a professional mechanic.

Doesn't the instrument cluster in your car light up even when the lights are off?

Yes the gauge and instruments should both light up at all times when the car is on. It does on mine with the boost gauge also installed even if the headlights are off.
