Default AWE cold air intake(impressions)....

For those who e-mailed me about my custom intake, here're some informations: its a cone type filter which connected by a 3"intake pipe, the whole system will fit inside the factory box(steath). That means it still draw cold air form the factory air vents, you won't notice it unless you open up the airbox. I do notice better throttle responds and better high end power with the cone type filter even compare to K&N dropins. I did a 13.9 at the drag strip with Garrett stage 1 chip, AWE filter and a $100 custom exhaust and it's a tip. The intakes are available from AWE for $189.

Default you notice any lag? (more)

Do you notice any like...when you mash on the throttle do you hear a huge air rushing sound and the mixture goes rich (I think thats what happens..I might be wrong) for a second and you get huge lag? This happens in my cougar and it feels like my torque curve is moved up..higher RPMS are way faster though. I just don't want to loose the torque the S4 has in the lower RPMS by getting an air intake. Sounds like it helped you though, does it sound good? I love the tone they add.

Default I don't see how a cone filter inside the airbox helps too much

Any removal of the airbox is more or less out of the question due to the heat generated by the turbo's.<p>-Cheng Kwan

Default intake fits inside airbox(no heat soak) and locks in via mass air meter!!more!!

the cone/velocity stack/mandrel tube work to smooth out and straighten airflow going through mass air meter..on VAG tool increases of 8-9% in airflow were recorded..throttle response is greatly enhanced as well as the top end power(car doesn't fall on its face after 5500rpm anymore-now pulls strong to redline)the filter is ultra hi flo with a velocity stack--installation takes 20-30 minutes...

Default Re: you notice any lag? (more)

I dindnt find any lag. however you'll get louder intake sound as the air rush in and louder turbo spool up sound ( which I personally like). but you 'll definately notice the car runs smoother at the top.
