Not that this really helps your dilemma, but...
Here's a picture of IronChefPete's AWE pod that I took a couple of weeks ago. I kind of thought that the contour of the pod didn't really match up with the contour of the A-pillar very well, but Pete managed to wedge it in there pretty good.

I got one made by Warner that seems to have a pretty wide range of control...
and can be either quite hot (peel paint) or almost cool enough to put your hand in front of. I used it to seat a ton of dynamat sound deadener in my wife's truck and had no problems around the upholstry.
