Default B7 RS4 stock vs Stage III B5 S5?

I test drove an RS4 and curious to hear from folks that have driven one versus a Stage III daily driver. Quick review linked below. I certainly like the car, but it didn't blow me away and I've only got a Stage 0 driver. Then again, I'm at a mile high altitude where turbos make a big difference.

I drive a mostly stock S4 (no chip or power parts). Certainly felt a difference when I drove home after the RS4 drive. I think mostly due to the throttle response and rev-happy RS4, and the much improved suspension/chassis rigidness. Not that I would kick an RS4 out of my garage, but it would be a tough choice given other choices in the $70-100K range. I'd rather go with an imported B5 RS4 (several in my state) or sick RS6 for that kind of money if nothing else.

Anyway -- curious if any of your Stg III+/- heads have flogged an RS4 and what your impressions were. I'm thinking AWE Stage III- later this year.

https://forums.audiworld.com/rockymtn/msgs/68502.phtml</a

Default pretty sure I remember reading stg3 is faster than stock rs4. Also whats his face

that bought Josh D's b5 rs4 beat a stock b7 rs4 by a couple car lenghts if I remember correctly. He posted a week or 2 back about it. I think all he has done to the b5 is upgraded ecu software? I dunno something like that though

Lowest stock qtr. mile B7 RS4 time I've seen was a 12.8 w/a hard launch.

Default Nash just replaced his APR Stg3 with a new RS4... maybe he'll chime in. I haven't driven

an RS4 yet(going to dealer today and will drive one if they have stock) but I'd imagine the Stg3 car would be faster pretty much everywhere on street things. Track would probably be an easy win for the RS4 unless you're at the Ben or Pat levels with your B5.

90-100ft/lbs more torque at a low RPM in the B5 will likely be the differentiator.

Default I've played with B7RS4's on the highway before as well as driven my car and a B7 RS4 back to back...

The Stage III car has a very distinct advantage in power, torque, and acceleration. It feels faster too due to the power delivery.

The B7 car shines well in chassis feel and interior. The stock brakes seem to be quite good too.

"1) She is holding up fine. Just shy of 1000 miles now, 500 more and I'll be out of breakin. It is really a fantastic daily driver, and a very capable performer. The handling is far better than my B5. Brakes are crazy (overkill?) - watch out for the pads though. Over $400 for a set of OEM front pads and over $200 for the rear. The sound is great, and I love the interior upgrades (great seats with very nice leather, NAV/MP3 slots, Bluetooth, etc). The car is definitely quick, but I fully realize I've given up a little bit in the straight line performance department. That said, the all around performance is fantastic and I don't regret it at all. R&T has a comparison between the RS 4 and the C4S - I would say this is a pretty valid comparison in driving feel.

2) Not yet, but I plan to get it out on track. I will probably primarily track the Turbo, but will do some events with the RS4.

3) Nope. Only one or two guys have had issues with their US spec cars. Supposedly DRC was a trouble issue in RS6s when tracking, but it's been redesigned for the RS 4. Hopefully it will not be a weak point."
