BAD and WEIRD experience today. Audi Roadside Assistance SUCKS.

Doesn't have to be a national company...AAA doesn't do the towing...they just call someone.
All these people do is call a local towing company. Anyone with a telephone and a national yellow pages could do it. Identify the closest towing company with flat beds, identify the nearest audi dealership....tada! Rocket Science! Shouldn't take 4 hours to do, either.
Sorry.....I'm a little bitter after the incident

I already mentioned that AAA doesn't do the towing.
See link.
I don't know the specifics about your bad experience, but since "AAA just calls the towing company", think about this. Memorial Day weekend is a busy traveling time (perhaps busy RA time also). The towing contractors may be busy on earlier calls and some might be closed for the holiday.
The opinions stated above may not be those of my employer and are my own.<p>Brett Gissel

AAA did not even try to call anyone. They told me they could not help at all.
They didn't try to find a service station that was open, they did nothing. I could see if they tried and couldn't find anything open or busy, but they refused to help in any way. I found an open service station 5 miles up the road on my own. I then limped the car there at 5 mph on a major highway. The station then helped me out. I eneded up having to get a rental because they couldn't drain the bad gas till the next monday. One of the guys at the station even gave my wife and I a ride to the rental place. That is customer service. AAA sucks.

Not familiar with MB's RA. Also, RA not profitable.
Since I don't do any work with RA, I don't keep up with everyone else's RA. However, RA is not profitable. If MB runs their own RA, they are losing money on it. Could be why some manufacturers have contracted RA out to AAA.
