How hard is it to replace the alternator?

Not hard, just time-consuming...

Default Those battery/alternator testers that they roll out are insufficent. I had the same thing happen

about 3 weeks ago. I was looking to replace the battery anyway, so I did that first. Same result so I got a rebuilt alternator from advanced auto for like 210 + core.

Install, nothing overly difficult about it really, like many have said, it just takes time. I think it took me about 5-6 hours but I work really slow.

I would make sure you check to see if you have a bosch or valeo alternator. I think the valeo up to MY 1.5 then switched to bosch, but check anyway. It is listed on the black back dust cover on the alternator and if you have a mirror on a stick you can see it without removing everything first, that way you can just get the same brand replacement. Keeps you from having to worry about different pully size.

Make sure you have some G12 coolant as you will lose a bit during the process. Or, just replace it all if it is old.

Good luck

I just replaced my alternator with a new one and when I start my car it only runs on the battery and once the battery is drained the car dies, I hooked a power prob to the alternator and I was only getting 3 volts, would there be a bad relay or fuse or wire that’s stopping the alternator from putting out the correct voltage

On my Lexus, the alternator wasn't pushing out enough volts, which caused the battery to discharge. It took 250 miles to totally deplete it, but the automobile would then die. I went into a petrol station garage and asked them to test it; the guy came out with a little volt meter and stated it was the battery, so I went out and got a new one. It died again 250 miles later. real estate istanbul
