Battery removal/replacement

Looks like my battery has died..its about 4 years old. How do you get the battery out? Its the opening is smaller than the battery..do you have to remove all the plastic covering in the area?
Also does anyone know how much one should run?

except then you've got to remove the clamp holding the battery down (it's on the passenger side). Be careful lifting the battery out, it weighs a ton and you've got to pull it out at a weird angle (the hood gets in the way).
Forget about finding a battery at Costco or Walmart. You need a "vented Group 48" battery. Local auto parts stores should sell them for $59-79 for the standard lead acid. $100+ for the fancy ones.
