Default In defense of the cardboard, I think Tirerack uses 2 pieces on the face side of the wheel. I didn't

I've ordered 3 sets of wheels from them and never had an issue. That case with with me shipping was a nightmare. The delay cost me the sale.

You're right though. Best way is to let someone pack them to minimize potential for damage.

Default yes, they do but it also had thin white packing between wheel and cardboard

That's how they ship wheels that have tires mounted on them. I had four shipped to me that way no problem. IF you buy just a wheel it comes in the box.

Default Yea. He could go to a Wheel shop and see if they have boxes for 26" wheels.

Maybe they'll give them to him. Then he could stick his whole wheel in the box. Just a thought.

Default I've sent several sets out recently. I cut corrugated cardboard in the size/shape of the wheel

and I put a thick piece of bubble wrap or foam between the face of the wheel and the front cardboard piece.

Then I wrap it all around with packing tape so there are no exposed spots. I sue nearly a roll of tape per set of rims. I don't mess around when it comes to selling things. I'm not about to let poor shipping practices ruin my reputation!

OK to ship with no box....but you pay an extra fee ($6.50) on each boxless package.
