Default More than two or three people.

I can't possibly give you a count, but it was a common experience, and when people experienced it, there were others ready with the NHTSA link. Whether people went through with it...and how many is unknown.

It's not just the critical mass they need. They also factor in safety issues, injuries that have resulted, and a few other factors. Obviously it was a safety issue, but due to the nature of the issue, it's nearly impossible to clearly demonstrate that it was a manufacturing or design issue, and not driver error. Obviously, all things considered, they didn't deem it worthy of investigation.

Default The only way you're going to get something done "swiftly" is a class action suit...like someone did

with the coilpacks in the DBW A4.

and, with this issue, someone upgrading turbos is SOL, imo.

Default Anybody have a NHTSA link ? She's parked for now and going back to ASP for head gaskets in Jan.

I'm going to buy an '06 Jetta TDI for my daily driver and leave the S for the weekends.
It's been fun but she's getting way to expensive to drive every day anymore. :>(

Default I was part of the group that filed a complaint about wet brake problem. There was a fix.

I never heard from the NHTSA after filing the defect complaint but I pestered the hell out of my dealer about the problem for like 9 months. At one point they had an Audi engineer (supposibly flew in from Germany) inspect the cars entire brake system.
In the end, Audi send my dealer a special kit that was installed on the car that redirected the air flow/water away from the wheel wells. The kit did fix the problem.

Default Audi tried that on a limited basis...

There were mixed results with that kit. Some were happy, others claimed it made no difference.

I will say this...at the time, most cars I looked at had a little spoiler underneath the car similar to what Audi was providing for the A4. Even the TT had it (from the factory).

Default I've had problems when the pads get wet as well.

I just thought it was the Axxis pads.
I didn't know others were having the same thing
happen.
