Is block 115 of ECU true boost? Or is it just a calculated value?

Default Is block 115 of ECU true boost? Or is it just a calculated value?
I mean is a boost guage neccessary if you can just check boost with the Vag tool from time to time? Thanks

Default true boost
the boost gauge allows you to watch the boost while driving as opposed to checking it later with VAG
