Well, maybe not blood; not a lot anyway. The mod is done. And despite all my panic last night, it turned out better than I would've guessed at that point. However, knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have done it (and won't be performing it on my wife's silver A4 as originally planned).
By just being patient with my air compressor and vacuum, I was able to get almost all the plastic shavings out. From anything but the closest distances, the job looks quite nice for what it is. The biggest flaw remains the fact that I unintentionally drilled the holes too big, IMO. If I could do it over, it'd be a slightly better job. Oh well, I'm just happy nothing broke and that I came away with some valuable experience. If I go with the euros at some point, I'll just be that much more proficient in their installation.
So, to anyone thinking of performing this mod: Jasyn's Tech Article is very good, but makes the job seem easier than it is. The "Cleaning Up" section, which discusses blowing the shavings out of the housings, is horribly understated. It's a bitch no matter how you ultimately accomplish it, and you'll never get every last speck.

1/4". Is that bad?
Ha ha. Actually, I started with 5/64" but moved to something like a 7/64" out of frustration. I couldn't get the damn reflector to come off! Plus, I had to work it around a lot and consequently, made the hole bigger than the drill bit itself. I guess I just don't have good dremel skillz.
