Blown away by a 2003 Mustang Cobra

I guess with the additional power their lawyers got nervous. The previous Cobras were unlimited - stock with a gearchange they were good for 165+. Well, with a chip I imagine the '03 would be good for 175+.

and needed the front end redesign AND that wing to even be semi-stable at that speed.
A Mustang with that sort of HP scares the crap outta me...it's just not a chassis that should be going that fast.

literally it's as slick as a brick.
Its an incompatible platform for real HP...from a stability standpoint.
Remember we worked out once that it would take something like 550hp to get a Mustang CobraR to do 190...that's some incredibly poor aerodynmaics.
But then again...American car company...does it REALLY matter what happens after the first 1/4 mile? Not to MOST folks.

off the top of my head. Yes when you give the mustang some steroids and leave him with rear wheel drive, traction sucks ***.

High-12, not high-13 (as you claimed). BIG difference. Perhaps you shouldn't pull numbers from your.... head was it?
Traction isn't as bad as you'd think - I pulled 2.06 60fts. with my stock Cobra... certainly good enough to drive around an S4s superior launch once it becomes an HP battle. The '03 will be the same story but more so - and this battle was from a roll, so traction wasn't even a factor. Bottom line - Cobra has WAY more power, in a roll-on, all but a handful of S4s are toast vs. a stock '03 SVT.

...1/8th is a much better replica of a stoplight drag race, and the 1 kilometer starts to give some insight to the higher speed abilities of a car.

First, don't start with an R ;o) Second, clean up the aero a bit, third, add mucho power.

...the true top speed of a vehicle is going to strain any vehicle to reach it -- therefore, it will not be easy. On the other hand, if they did easily reach 196mph, then that was not the vehicle's top speed, it was just as fast as they went at the time. For 600hp (their claim of double stock HP), I'd expect at least 205-210mph though (well, maybe not from a Mustang)...
