Default Blown speaker - factory or aftermarket replace?

Either someone has dropped a Lego into my right rear speaker, or I've blown the sumbitch. Since the thing should be under warranty, should I let the dealer replace it with another factory (Bose) unit that may blow again or replace both rears with something better? How good are the factory Boses anyway? I have been out of the car audio scene for quite some time, and am unfamiliar with the Bose drivers used in the S4.

Thanks,

Default I'd let them replace then think about after market...

Esp if you leased the car, when you return it just put back the factory speakers and keep the upgraded ones...

Default Comments on Bose.

I remember someone commenting on the Bose speakers a couple of months ago, saying that they had taken one out for examination and had come to the conclusion that their construction and design was nothing to write home about. They likened them to most other OE car speakers.

Also, last May, Jim De Arras dissected the Bose amp and deemed it a total piece of crap, electronics-wise.

If audio quality matters to you in your S4, then it would appear that aftermarket -- even entry-level aftermarket -- is the way to go for improvement.

Default Re: Bose.

In my 240Z, I had great luck with Oz Audio separates - really loved them. They went the way of the dodo though, getting moved into my Mustang which went to my Ex, then Lord knows where!

How big are the factory rears? Will a 6.5" separate fit?

Default Rear door or rear deck?

Rear door = 6.5"
Rear deck = 6.5"

The Bose speakers in our cars are paper coned (****ty!!!). I would get the free replacement then look into aftermarket if you become more serious about the sound.
