BMW M5 vs. S4 stage 2
#18
In my experience with many M5's. A stage 2 car realistically has no chance. Maybe if you make the
race 1/8 of a mile. A Stage 3 car has a chance, and in most cases I can match one. Occasionally I can even beat one in a straight line, but barely... When my car was Stage 2, initially I would be neck and neck, then M%'s would pull away very quickly. The M5 is a very formidable machine, and not to be taken lightly by anyone. Some M5's are driven by bad drivers, around here though, they are usually driven by enthusiasts who easily take advantage of the great engine in the M5. I will admit, I am seriously considering getting one. Big difference in a drag strip 1/4 and a real world scenario which is going to take place over a longer and faster stretch of road.

It definitely is in a different league - but it's not unbeatable
The question wasn't stock vs stock anyway, it was modded S4 vs stock M5.
BMW is a target for several manufacturers, so it's only a matter of time before the M5 is one-upped. BMW knows the car isn't the automotive god the magazines have made it out to be - thus, the plans for a V10 in the M5.

Nick, sorry, but you were simply a better driver - got on power through the apex earlier, etc...
The M5 is faster. Drive one, and you will see. Stage 3 cars can keep up, and even slightly beat one occasionally. Besides, the real magic in the M5 is over 100 mph...
