Default Box question.....

What is the diffrence between a,h,m,t boxes? I have a 10/00 prod date which makes it an h box I believe. Getting ready to chip...any diffrence what box you have, or is it only the man.date?

Appreciate any help.

Default 10/00 is right around the switchover from H to M.

Do you have old or new badges? The only boxes that are definitely interchangeable are M & T. Others may have issues.

Default You have an M box unless there was a fluke in manufacturing.

All 10/00s were Ms(new badges). The 09/00s came in both iirc depending on what week they rolled off the assy line. Have yet to see a factory car with the new badges that was not a M or T in 6sp.

VAG it and see what part number comes back on the engine module, or take the cover off the ecu casing in the engine compartment.

Default Assuming I have a H box it would be better to get a M box and then chip it, or it really

does not matter?

Default Need to get the same box as your car has(factory) to be safe.

There are a few that are interchangeable ie a M box can be used in a T car but you never know if there is some subtle code change that could hurt you down the road.

Find a buddy or tuner with a Vag tool or open the ecu enclosure to read the part number. Its pretty easy to find out for sure. If you're ever in the Carolinas I can link up with you to check it.

You have an H-box then. Get an H-box chip.
