I was backing out of the driveway and taped the brakes and heard a "screach" sound from the rear brakes. I stopped, pulled up the driveway, reversed out again, and the noise didn't happen.

It also happened when backing out of my parking spot at work this morning.

Anyone else in a cold-temperature area getting this?

It's the ABS self-test. I don't always notice it, but sometimes it's very apparent.

Yeah, I only get it in reverse too.

the brakes were making considerable noise. Almost like there was a problem, just not a really bad problem. Not like low pads, just noisy. Now they just make squealing on light application of brakes, and a strange shriek in reverse braking. Brakes on Audis are fine for stopping cars, but not trouble-free nor are they quiet. My 98 1.8T had constantly changing brake noises. Strange.
