Default brake pads, track pads on the street?

What are the disadvantages of running track/competition pads, on the street. Also, how much of loss will I incur running high performance street pads on the track?

Default I've run lots of race pads on the street....

It's not ideal, but certainly doable. Some things to consider:

Many races pads do not stop well at lower street temps, or in the rain (that is, cool temps+moisture). While you can find some decent race pads that stop you reasonably well on the street, keep in mind that they are not at their optimal and often something will wear faster. At lower temps, my Ferodo's really ate into my rotors (and they were my expensive rotors, too. Ugh).

Also, race pads are significantly more corrosive than street pads and will happily eat away at your wheels if you're not washing them frequently.

YMMV.

Default Don't use any pad that is harder than the rotor such as Hawk Blue(m)

the problem is that the pads wear the rotors and the fine metal shavings stick to the wheel then when you get rain or dew you have a gaint mess, and it will not wash out. Hot metal on warm paint, my .02:-)
