Default BRAKES make a vibration sound during hard stops...warped rotors or faulty pads?

when braking hard from 90-50 sounds like a sound coming from drivers front...any thoughts?

Default you might just need to have the rotors turned. sometimes stuck on bits of b-pad

can do this and it's mistaken for warped rotors.

try this first before buying new rotors.

Default Yup, it's the rotors. Turning them may help temporarily

but the thinner rotor will be even more susceptible to future warping.

Default Re: BRAKES make a vibration sound during hard stops...warped rotors or faulty pads?

This is very common w/ the hp2 brakes on your S4. It can be most likely caused by hard braking, and then stopping the car. The brakes get so hot that the rotor and the heavy iron content of the stock Jurid pad actually "alloy" and fuse together and then get stuck when they drop a few hundred degreees. The next time you drive the car this thin layer of brake pad is ripped of the pad & remains on the rotor. Then the snow ball theory takes affect. Each time this patch of pad comes around & touches the brake pad it collects more material. The brake rotors then start to look like records, Audi's "fix" for this was to sand the rotors smooth (to cheap to replace em) and replace the pads. The real fix is some adequate brakes like Brembos that dont get taxed at every other stop! If this is out of you price range get new stock rotors (they are never thick enough to turn , 30mm new, 28mm under spec) and get some high heat rated aftermarket pads like Porterfields. And last but not least use common sense w/ your brakes dont cherry them & then stop the car! My 00' B5's stock pads & rotors lasted me 17K & I drive like a maniac!!!! 1.6 bar @ 7450rpm!! Default exact same problem i had...

i had all my rotors turned then put on mintex red on all 4, try my best to brake them in. now after 2k miles they feel like warped now, don't make anymore noise tho. my next upgrade will be the porsche rotors $700 a set i believe, alot cheaper than other "packaged" deals at 2-3k.
