Hey Guys -
I've spent the night reading through the archives at AW on wheels spacers, brake clearances, etc.
In a nutshell, here's the story. I have 17x7.5" Kahns RSS' with a 35mm offset (they were inherited from my A4). Anyhow, they've worked great with worn pads. To my surprise, when I attempted to install my Mintex Red pads today on the front, the wheels wouldn't clear the calipers.
Rears worked fine, no problems there. So, I see wheels spacers as an option.
Here's what I was thinking:
Front: 5mm Spacers (equates to .20 inches)
Rear: 8mm Spacers (just to bump out the rear and give the rear a more equal look to the front)
Does anyone see a problem with this setup? It will get me to 30MM offset on a 7.5" wheel, which hopefully is where I need to be. I 'should' clear the calipers then, without pusing the wheels out too far causing lip rubbing issues, thoughts?
Thanks!
Travis

having had vibration problems in the past. Even a little bit will drive you nucking futs.

you probably don't need much spacer. 8mm may be overkill in the back.
Whether a 30mm working offset will rub, may depend on if you're lowered. If not (or not much) you may be fine, but certainly keep an eye out for that.
Also, by widening the track you are increasing the mechanical grip on that axle, so if you run a different width fr vs. rear, keep that in mind. 3mm isn't gobs, though.

How far the rear would have to come out to be equal to the front at 30mm? I'm just contemplating making them look exactly alike. Thanks for all the help.

People with 8" wheels at 35MM haven't seen rubbing, so that's what I'm betting my guesstimate off of, this nearly equates to a 7.5" wheel at 30mm.
What about lowering, I go with a 'modest' lowering spring in the coming years, does anyone see a problem with this? It wouldn't be slammed by any means, but probably 1-1.5"?
Thanks!
