Bridgestone Pole Position vs. Yokohama AVS Sport?

They have held up VERY well. Sebring is not easy on tires... I had the same problem deciding between these two but like Warren below felt that if I was going to punish one or the other I would be more open to pushing the AVS's.

I buy a set a year if I track or auto-x on them, and they all have lasted pretty much the same amount of time, so my logic is why bother spending like $50 more per tire if it's just a minimal increase in traction? So I just buy the cheaper ones and burn them up. Also, don't forget that a whee little nail can make you foot the bill for another tire.
I mean, how much do you care about your stock tires? Do you baby them? I've been punishing mine w/ auto-x and track events, and they're doing just great. Sure there are some chunks missing here or there... but do I care? No. I see other people freaking out about their S-02's and other expensive tires at local events. Me? I'm having a blast burning up my stockers. I use the same logic for other cheap tires.

and am very pleased with the tire after about 1500 miles. The size I am using is 235/45/17. The feedback through the steering is very good and I can now make almost snap moves to avoid sudden potholes and debris.
I don't do track events with my car so this is all highway/city driving. I drive enthusiastically and with our rotaries here I have ample opportunity to test the road holding of the tire. It holds very well in dry and wet in my opinion. The fractional difference in the performance test results will probably never be a factor for me.
The AVS Sport delivers every $$$ in it's price plus maybe a few bucks. At $180 per, it's not exactly inexpensive. However, it's also not ridiculously expensive either. I always try to find a balance between value and performance.
In my cost/benefit analysis this tire achieved the highest ratio. It has delivered more than I anticipated in terms of performance. I am very thankful for the many people who post here with their experiences. It has been invaluable to me in every aftermarket purchase I have made for my
Audi.

What I mean is does the wider tire want to hunt out and follow the grooves in the road bed any worse than the 225?
The last time I went with a wider tire on a car it was from 195/55 -> 205/50 on my GSR. While the car handled better it was a PITA on rutted roads.

gives you the same bang for less bucks. My friend with an M5 is on his second set of SO2's and likes them alot but also just had his second flat. I haven't had any flats with my Yokos. One flat was caused by a sidewall failure.

it was so numb before. I had no idea what the road was doing before but now I get plenty of input through the steering wheel. I may get tired of having to give control input at slower speeds but for now I have no complaints.

I think the S4 compares pretty favorably to the 911 for about 60% of the cost. Plus it's a much more practical daily driver. But, if money was no object I'd probably be driving a 911 instead. Since it is, the S4 is a great choice.<p><a href="mailto:jim@vipmail.com?Subject=AudiWorld Post">Jim</a>, <a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3894">'00 S4</a>

The AVS are to die for, Wet or Dry i have massive grip, turn in speeds are to die for and high speed stability is awesome, hit some big bumps at 160 a couple of days back, Mich Sports used to get airbourne but not the AVS just road it out, high speed direction change is stunning as well.
