ALL modern paints have a non pigmented part to them.
Either mixed with the paint pigments (called Single Stage) or like most high end cars come with a two step (base coat or color coat first and then a second clear coat on top of that) finish.
The color coat is a very flat non glossy paint. When the clear is applied on top of that, it brings out the gloss we expect an automotive finish to have. BTW pearl white has 3 steps and there fore is by nature a thicker paint. Its also more expensive.
