Upon getting it back, I noticed a slight clunk or groan when taking off slowly from a stop light. Since I have a warranty up to 100k miles, I wasn't too concerned about it. Tonight as I was pulling away from a stop, I heard a pop. Then every small bump I hit I heard a loud rattle. At first I thought the passenger door was not closed. When I got home I took the wheel off and inspected. I found a broken spring! What could cause this? In all my years of working on cars, I have never seen this. I'm not worried about the expense since it's under warranty, but I'm just wondering why this would happen. Is this common for these cars? What could have caused it? See attached picture.
