Broken water pump at 24K miles...

Started hearing some strange noises at idle from the front engine area last week. Sounded like a bad bearing, and I figured it might be the water pump or alternator/generator. Dropped her off at the dealer this morning, and the diagnosis is it's the water pump. This is the first car I've ever had with a water pump failure at less than 30K miles; usually it's happened at 70K-80K miles.
The dealer had to order the part, so the chances of having my car for the upcoming holiday weekend look pretty slim. :-( My loaner is... a Gold Ford Taurus!!! :-( Ughhh....
