Default Burning Smell - Passenger Side Front

2001 Sedan

Happens even after short (4-5 mile) drives. Sometimes smell it on the road when I'm stopped at a light or driving slow. I thought it might be a stuck caliper but the disc doesn't seem unduly warm after a long-ish drive. Doesn't smell like oil, it's more harsh/plasticy than that. Oil level and coolant level are normal. Any thoughts on what I should be looking at next?

Default I had the same thing, oil was dripping and burning off - driver side valve cover gasket was shot

smell goes away after car heats up but first few traffic lights you can smell it for sure. I thought it was clutch at first but i didn't think i was that bad at driving so i dug deeper. good luck.

Default 3rd! Doing mine this weekend. You can prob see the oil mark on your exhaust manifold if you look

down there.

Like this.

<a href="http://s64.photobucket.com/albums/h195/Fast_N_Snow/?action=view¤t=oil.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h195/Fast_N_Snow/oil.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Mine smokes too. Check your valve cover. IF the leak is towards the front of engine prob just valve cover if its towards the rear of the head most likely cam seal and/or both.

Default 5th. Mine was on pass side. Had the vcg's and cam seals replaced

recently, but still getting a little smell thru the cabin air vents when I turn on the heater for a short while after start-up when car is cold. Much improved, but still annoying.
