a dealer though will collect the sale tax from you when you buy it from them and get all the paperwork transfer over.....you as a buyer will not have to go into the DMV to get the plates and the title transfer. Dealers have a much quicker way of getting stuff like that done and it saves you time and effort

Buyer pays all taxes and fees when you go to register it. Texas really is different!

When buying from a licensed dealer, buyer must pay 6.25 percent tax. If buying from a private party, buyer pays the "standard presumptive value" or used car tax. One way or another, Uncle Sam gets a slice of the pie.
