major oil leaks are from that corner of the valve cover gasket, due to that puddle of oil that Im sure you noticed. or from the cam seal.

i figured i would just do it since i'm doing the valve cover gaskets...
but apparently not many people have done it...funny you should mention that, cause it didn't really look like any oil was leaking from it, so unless it miraculously comes out easy tomorrow, then i will just skip that side, i dont think i will be messing with removing the cam...no thanks!

My Missus' has a 2.8 V6 ad I was thinking of doing the same while fixing a cam position sensor. I opted to change the rocker cover/cam cover gaskets, and also all 4 cam seals /gaskets.
Tech was standing behind me as I was ordering parts and he asked if I was serious.
We chatted and he asked if the CPS was oily. I said no. He said that you had to use special tools and need to remove the cam do change the gasket. Total labor was estimated at 9 hours and that it was a PITA of a job...

i dont think i'll be replacing that gasket tomorrow. :P Looks like i'll just do the valve cover gaskets and call it a day.

have the timing belt off so you can take the back cover loose. then you have enough room to lift the adjuster up and sneek the gasket and seal out. FWIW they leak all the time.For some reason more on the 2.8 then the 2.7. We end up doing them with most timing belts.

know exactly where it was supposed to go. Mark BOTH cams obviously, the sprocket and the chain link themselves.

to remove the 1/2 moon part and cleaning the gasket with a Q-tip and alcohol then applying RTV with a Q-tip to the gasket. The 1/2 moon part can be pulled out and replaced with the new part with RTV on it. The driver's side is more of a PITA because of the timing belt, after compressing and removing the bolts you will need to pull it out towards the head using a small pair of needle nose pliers. 10K miles and still no leaks.
