Default Can air filter oil that gets on MAF reduce the readings?

Curious if anyone has encountered air filter oil that has affected MAF readings. There is no specific code for the MAF. I have read that people have taken the MAF and soaked in alcohol to clean any residue. Any thoughts? BTW, Hitachi MAF.
