"New" style shifter versus "Old" style shifter.....
I believe these two photos illustrate at least one difference between the old S4 shifters and the new ones. Note the white plastic piece in the "old" style shifter is in an "arch" configuration while the new style shifter doesn't have that piece at all.

I would suggest that you pull the shifter-boot out to see what version you have and make sure that 0700 has the same.
