Default Can an H-box ECU be recoded to an M-box code?

I recently purchased an AWE stage 3 code ECU, and was told that the ECU was an M box. When it arrived, I noticed that the ECU itself was physically an H-box, although the letters, M box software, are written on the ecu itself. Just wondering if there is much difference.

FWIW, I tried searching, but came across too many other topics. TIA.

Yes, my current ECU shows up as T box on label and M box on VAG.
