Go for it. I have had an APR chip forever. A chip is the best bang for the buck mod you can get. I have my original K03's and have no fear of failure. I have done 8 or so track events since chipping and experienced no problems. You will stress some components like the throttle body boot which is prone to failure so buy a backup or replace it with the Y pipe. Also, the 2000 has an f hose that is prone to fail. Buy a samco or convert that right away.

Like everyone suggested, try and bulletproof the car as much as possible - f-hose, TBB, DVs all should be replaced with better aftermarket or OEM parts.
