Default Can I convert an APR chipped ECU to a GIAC ECU?

What do I need to do? Is the APR chip in a condition after the operation to be resold?

Thanks. I have APR right now and need to move to GIAC 3- code. No one wants to trade me, so I guess I have to change it myself.

Is it socketed, or flashed?

Default I don't think APR has done flashloading for the B5 S4s.

So all of the APR chips have soldered EMCS modules, AFAIK.

Can it be unsoldered and a GIAC 3- code flashed on the ECU?

Default Yes. Would have to unsolder the APR EMCS module, solder on a stock eprom and flash it.

Might be easier to sell it and buy a stock ECU as suggested above.

Default So if I understand correctly, the stock EPROM is gone? The APR is not a piggyback kind of thing...

This sucks that I can't just remove the APR portion and flash with GIAC. I guess stock EPROMs aren't just lying around are they?

Thanks Dave.

Default Its not all that bad. Any GIAC dealer should have plenty of stock eproms from when

they were soldered on chips... as should any APR dealer.

Perfect. Want some APR electronics as a paper weight or souvenir?
