Default Can I drive around without the B1S1 O2 sensor?

its starting to fail (the DTC comes back within one day of being cleared). Just spent $280 to fix rear wheel bearing this month, and $220 to fix a leaking fuel injector seal last month!

Will it hurt anything?

Default go buy the VW part and replace it.

That's your bank 1 side 1 02 sensor. The VW sensor is EXACTLY the same except for the connector (you can splice the Audi for the VW connector). The Audi part is $175, the VW part is $27.

email me if you need more info or do a search for VW 02 sensor.

Default I guess I'm just gunshy about going deep into the engine-alot of stuff to remove for access, right?

But NO WAY do I want to spend like $300 when I can do it for $30!

Default it's very simple.

you will only have to move the coolant expansion tank (3 screws). YOu will need a couple of extensions (14-20" long) an 02 sensor socket, and a swivel for the socket or the ratchet handle. I've switched 3 of my 4 02s like this and it's pretty straight forward.

It will help a little to jack the car up and have somebody help guide the socket on to the 02 sensor wire. When installing the new sensor, twist the wire (preload) in the opposite direction you will be installing it. This way, when it's tight, the wire won't be twisted to all hell.

Default OK! I'll try it! Just one question...

when you say 14-20" extensions, what exactly do you mean by that? I hate to get into it, and then realize I need something. Also, I do need to rewire (and heat shrink) the wires, right?

Hey, thanx for all this great information!! Much appreciated!
