Default Can I tell if an ECU is chipped with VCDS?

I'm the only tech at a "pre-driven" dealership that specializes in Audis. (20 in inventory now.) We have 3 B5 S4s here at the moment, since they come from auction, i have no history on the cars. I have the registered VCDS from Ross-Tech, does the version # of the ecu change? is there a list I can compare with?

Thanks in advance.

Take it on the road and log block 115 (boost). If it exceeds the stock ~9 psi then it is chipped, unless it happens to have an APR chip that is set to stock mode. Other than that, I don't recall there being any way that VCDS can show if the ECU is chipped or not.

Hi Smeege

Flyboy is correct, you can only tell by logging the boost, unless you have some other tools to compare the checksum of the ECU programmming.

Also GIAC is another vendor that offers a swithable solution (I have it on my A6). You can download the little app from their site which allows you to switch between the programs using your VAG-Com. Obviously this will only work if they have the GIAC version installed. Let me know if you cannot find it and I can post it for you.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Thanks guys. Just found GIAC software. This S4 has a huge intercooler and DVs, the front bumper's not quite ready for a test drive yet, so I can't log MB. I'm guessing the car has some kind of software to go with the other mods.

P.S. massboykie, I like the "T" badge in your avatar, does anybody make one for the back of the car? I think it would go well on my 01 6spd A6.
