Default Don't know first hand but I assume there'a a crash bar that probably weighs 15-20lbs or so...

but is 20 lbs worth removing a safety feature? ...might as well do the airbags too.

15-20 lbs right where our cars need to lose weight, I'll take the risk. Can it be done?

Default In my '01 A4 I lost some lbs. to accomodate the

FMIC and definitely lost alot for safety. I was involved in a 5 car pile-up on the 15 frwy. and I was at a complete stop as was the car behind me. Still, after the accident, my A4 was f$^$@ed up. If you sacrifice the factory bumper stops/mounts etc. be prepared to replace parts and you maybe!

Default dont do it..

not worth the risk.. not worth your passengers live.

integral part of the saftey system. and it holds the bumber on.

You dont sound like you know much about physics if you propose to do things like that.

try getting a pc680 batter, put that in the trunk.
ditch your Ac

ditch the stock exhuast, and downpipes, ditch the stock brakes.. stock wheels and other things before you endager the lives of your passengers.

btw, if someone was injured in an acc and the judge found out your car had the crash bar removed from the investigation.. be prepaired to loose your *** and be criminaly liable.

Default Battery is odyssey, and will be in the trunk this week.

I am just looking for easy ways to lighten up the front, besides, CF hood, fenders, brakes, wheels, battery. BTW, my 77 911 is 2200 lbs(dry), has hollow bumpers and 300 hp (though it has a 6 point custom cage)... so my threshold may be different than most. Consider it a calculated risk. I am pretty sure the S4 with no crash bar will still be safer than most cars of lesser size. IMO of course, as F=MA and S4=pig! Oh yeah, hood and fenders are crumple components, and replacing with CF or fiberglass jeopardizes the crash safety as well

Default yea, kind of like making roll bars out of thin walled tubing

The bumper bar is lightweight aluminum. I would pull the a/c before messing with the bumper.
