I am trying to find a quality set that is going to cost me right about $1K. Wondering if their is someone who has a write up on the issue. It seems that H&R is the only company that makes a good one for the S4. Are coilovers worth the added money over a regular shock/spring setup?
Thanks!
Thanks!

and shocks. BTW, the cost difference between the 2 is not that much of a gap. Seeing that you have Brembos, don't skimp out on suspension.
I have learned my lesson the hard way.

I've had umpteen suspensions on my A4. The one suspension with a non-matched set of shocks and springs (Eibachs and Bilsteins) was the worst riding suspension. I've ridden in an A4 with H&R and Bilsteins, and an S4 with Intrax and Konis. My observations on both of those was more or less the same.
My H&R coilovers in both my A4 and my S4 have a matched shock and spring set. The result ride, while stiffer than most seperate shock and spring sets, is smoother as well.
There is nothing wrong with getting a matched shock and spring set up, but they are quite expensive. Why not just cough up $1300 and get the coilovers, so you can also set the ride height where you like it?

It really depends what you are using the car for; track or street or a little of both?
I'd HIGHLY recommend the STaSIS Track Sport setup if you're going to track your car.
In our experience, H&R's are oversprung and underdamped, resulting in a bouncy ride. They're really more of a street suspension than anything, not a track suspension.
We just installed a set of their TrackSport 600/700 single adjustable coilovers on our shop A4 last week---along with their TrackSport brakes.
Mmmmm, tasty. The car is simply a joy to drive.
Even though the STaSIS TrackSport setup is about $800 more than the H&R's, that $800 is money well spent for a suspension that is setup EXACTLY for your car, the way you drive, etc. H&R's are a generic setup. They don't let you choose spring rates depending on how you want the car to handle and they don't revalve the dampers per those spring rates. This is why the STaSIS suspension is leaps and bounds ahead of H&R.
We carry the philosophy that if you're going to mod your car, you might as well save up and do it right the first time. STaSIS is the only performance suspension we know of that allows you to do this meaning that if at first you're not completely satisfied with your spring rates, you can exchange them for a different spring rate free of charge. (Of all the suspensions STaSIS has sold, only one customer has returned springs for another set.) This GUARANTEES you the ride and handling you want. That's something H&R can't do.
As always, let me know if there are any other questions.
Best,
Jeremy

The H&R's did feel a bit bouncy compared to the H&R's in my A4. I wasn't quite sure, but I guess your thoughts have confirmed it. Still, for street use, they are great.
