Default Michelin Pilot Alpins

Great in snow and still retain good performance characteritics in the dry. Had them up to 120 mph no problems. They are also quiet for a snow tire.

I used the Toyo 920 (walnut technology) tires for a snowy Canadian winter and loved them.

Default Can't answer without more information

Do you live in full time snow conditions, or do you visit it occasionally? Go skiing on winding mountain roads, or just drive around town? Want to keep as much dry road performance as possible, or want maximum performance in snow? 17" wheels, or downsize to 16"? Studs/no studs?

ANY tire, and that includes snow tires, involves making certain compromises. There's no way to answer your question in a worthwhile fashion unless you can say what your priorities are.

IF your priority is snow and ice survival, with no concern for any dry road issues, go with studded Nokian Hakka 1's on 16" wheels, 205 wide.

Otherwise - more info is needed!

Default Re: Yokohama HighPerformance 215/45/17 Awesome, Awesome, but

because they are 215, not 225, the rim is exposed more to curbs, etc
