is it the 95 OBDI worth the smaller displacement (3.0 vs 3.2)?

Default the 3.0 are pretty much the same in terms of performance.

the 3.2 are hindered by more restrictive OBDII issues.

I had a 1995 OBDI where I swapped in a 3.2l engine - the best of both worlds.

The car absolutely rocked and most of hte time I wish I had it back.

Agreed. Parted ways with my B5 after aquiring the URS4. I've added a few go-fast parts too.

Default I seriously want to wait . . .

. . . but I absolutely have to have a car in the next couple of weeks. I'm in college right now (no car), and my previous car was sold a while ago. I go home in a week and start working a week after that, and I have to have car.

Default THe reason BMW went to 3.2L was because of the performance hit from going OBD2...

My car acutally has the M50 ('95) intake manifold on it - which breathes better than the stock '97 manifold... if you fully convert the car to OBD1 (or better to start w/ an OBD1 car - a '95 - and drop in the 3.2L --- like Avantgarde said), then you will have a KICK *** car.

You can still get pretty good performance from the 3.2L.. mostly by doing the M50 manifold swap, and things like intake, exhaust... and of course cams or even testpipes/etc ;-)
