Default Car on boat as of 1/31, build week 3, dealer says will be here... more

end of February or first week of March, is this possible?

I had been budgeting for an end of March delivery figuring that it'd take about 8 weeks on boat from Germany to San Diego port (dealer claims California bound cars no longer port at Houston?) and from San Diego to SF Bay Area.

My salesman claims that it'll be in at the end of February, I don't have the money for it and am expecting a March delivery, is it possible that it's coming so soon? (*sigh* I guess I'll leave it sit, or put the remainder of my downpayment on credit card.)

My Homepage

Default How much percentage of down payment required to gert order started?

In market for 2000 Avant, in Houston. Just need percentage, optional for you to gimme actual payment amounts. Good luck on your savings, youll get something worked out to get your new toy.

Default Re: How much percentage of down payment required to gert order started?

I put $500 (refundable if I decided not to take the car) down to order mine. My understanding is that its a lot more (and non-refundable) most of the time if you order a combo the dealer thinks they can't sell if you back out, like no winter option in the north east, or no sunroof, etc.

Default The Ides of March

There's something not right about what your salesman is telling you. The car that's on the boat. The car that's on the boat most likely is not a production week 3 car. Audi's take three weeks in the production line. Your S4 was complete, trucked over to port, and put on the boat in one week? The S4 on the boat is probably one that is configured to your specs and is unspoken for.

Most likely, a production week 3 car would be delivered sometime around the second week of March.

If you haven't check out Sean's A4 page available through the "links" page.

Default Build week 3 starts 1/17... more

I've always figured that the build would take about 5-7 days (automation makes things quick, longest process, I'd imagine, would be paint)

Build week 3 would start on 1/17, I don't find it hard to believe that it took 14 days to go through production and make it through onto the boat.

It doesn't really matter to me when it comes anyway, if it were to come in March, I'd be more relaxed, since I'll be in a better financial situation.

My Homepage
