Car Cover recommendation??

Car Cover recommendation??
I'm moving 1200 miles in a few weeks and will be towing a trailer w/my S4 on it... unlike some of us, I'm not privy to an 18 wheeler dedicated to my Audi's :-D
Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced cover that is durable enough to protect against rock chips etc?
Is the OEM cover worth the $200?
Thanks

Re: Car Cover recommendation??
The older Audi Factory "Evolution 4" cover I used to have is probably the most "thick" type of cover and would give you the best protection against rock chips, small hail, etc. However, this cover is like a sponge and soaks up dirt and water (if it gets wet). I now have the "Stratmosphere" cover which is excellent for regular use, but this cover is very thin and might not protect against rock chips. I'm not familiar with the OEM cover. Good luck!

A few other comments...
1. Never put the cover on if your car is dirty. 2. If the cover gets wet, just let it stay on the car until it dries naturally...won't take long (only about an hour or two in direct sulight). When you take the cover off, your car will be SPOTLESS!
3. Instead of the cable and lock that comes with the cover, I use a long bungie to keep the cover fastened on the car. It can withstand 60+ mph winds if it is fastened securely.
4. If you use tire dressing, the inside of the cover where it touches the tires will get filthy. If you really want to go all out, I think you can buy separate mini-covers for each wheel so that the car cover won't get tire dressing on it.
Good luck with the move!

Speaking of car covers...does covercraft have patches for damaged covers?
I need one...silver dollar sized hole on the roof of mine...(how the hell did that get there?...I have no idea....nasty bird poop?)

While the Evolution 4 cover absorbs water, NONE of it, I REPEAT NONE OF IT..
is transfered to your car. It traps all of it. It happens to be one of the best covers, and I've tried many. The one complaint is weight and size when folded, but I think that is a small price to pay for the cushioning when things fall on it or hit it when being towed.

Just wash the cover 2x per year, and put it on the car to dry. Wheel marks come off...
and since they always touch in exactly the same spot, no big deal. Oh, and always get a custom fitted cover. Having your mirrors in a custom pocket lets the cover stay closer to the body of the car so air doesn't get under it and lift it off. Never go for one of those "made to fit" jobs.
