Where did you learn to use the internet? FYI: "Please spare me the usual sarcasm" is an invitation to be trolled mercilessly.

Anyway, can you provide a little more information? Have you checked you brake pads and rotors? Is it an engine stutter, i.e., does it seem like the motor is "skipping a beat" or does the car physically shake from braking?

Default car shudders when braking

Haven't checked brakes yet - pads and rotors have about 15k on them

Engine doesn't skip

Steering wheel shudders when braking on a steep downgrade

Thanks for any guidance

My guess at this point would be rotors that are either warped or have uneven pad deposits. Happens every once in a while, especially depending on the pads you're running and how they're driven. My recomendation is try performing the standard pad rebedding procedure by bringing the car to a firm stop from about 50 or so a couple of times.

Check to make sure the wheels are seated correctly as well - when you take them off to look at the rotors and pads make sure that you tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern when you put the wheels back on.

Sounds like either you have pad deposits on the rotors, or you've got worn control arm bushings. Or maybe both.

Does it seem to pull to a specific side?
