Default Car stutters under light acceleration around 3000k, stock with cali gas, any ideas???

Whats up all,

A few weeks ago when I purchased my car they filled it with horrible gas that practically made the car undrivable. It would stutter and shake under acceleration. I figured it was bad gas and so topped it off with 100 octane race gas and it more or less cured the problem. Now though, that I am running 91 octane, the car stumbles or stutters under very light acceleration when I pass the 3000 rpm mark. At WOT it runs fine in all gears. I have tried searching but it seems that everyone with the same problem is running a chip. I am almost positive the car is stock as it is no faster than the other S4s I drove. Thanks for the help!

Default Mine did the same............

I have an '01 S4 w/ a little of 10K miles on it. Just experienced the same. DTCs coming up were random misfires of cylinders 1 and 2. Ran the car until the gas light came on and put in another tank of 91 octane, but a different brand from what I normally run. Car is running fine now without the hesitation between 2000-3000 rpm.
However, if you are chipped, the symptoms with bad gas will be magnified.

The light acceleration is not completely linear, there is a little hesitation
