Good point, I don't want to get decapitated by some hood...

Default If you're talking about injury from the hood itself, CF is safer

The thing weighs less than 10lbs and is substantially more fragile than your steel hood. Yes, it can shatter a windshield (ask me how I know), but its not going to penetrate into the cabin.

Default has it happened to you personally?

a friend with a 2000 civic si had his cf hood penerate into his cabin in a 50 mph frontal corner hit... it wasn't a pretty scene

Default I've had the hood flip up into the windshield

Cracked the windshield, cracked the CF hood in several spots (separated layers in one spot), bent hinges. It would have been substantially worse had it been a ~40lbs steel hood.
