Default Carbotech Bobcat brake pads

I recently purchased a set of Carbotech Bobcat brake pads (for the front) and was excited when the package came. However, after comparing it to a set of Hawk HPS pads that I've previously used, I noticed that the backing plates were totally different. Does this matter? Are our calipers compatible with various shapes and designs as far as the backing plates go? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated especially from people who already own a set of Bobcats.

Default Had them change the pad shape, but not the backing plate.

Could not fit them in until the shape was changed. I am not happy with their wet barking performance as I believe it may have been a large contributor to the accident that I recently had. I bedded them in as per directions but still they didn't work very well in the wet, worse then stock actually.

Default Considering that the backing plate is usually what the spring clip contacts...

I'm not sure that I'd want a different shaped backing plate that may change how the pad contacts the rotor. I'm probably blowing the concern way out of proportion, but with so many other pads to choose from, why take a chance on something that's shaped differently?

Default I've been runnign carbotech bobcats for the last 4-5 months on my Brembo 332mm kit. The bite so far

has been very good, although they do get a little loud on light braking situations once they warm up. I have not had any wet braking issues that you report, quite the opposite. I have been very happy with the wet weather braking so far. =\

Default I don't understand why it would be shaped differently.

Methinks he might have the wrong pads...but if he's got a set of 8 front pads, then he most likely has the correct front pads (how many other calipers use 8 front pads?).

Default Can you snap a picture of the backing on the pads? Are you sure you don't have the inner/outer

pads mixed up?

Default GREAT to know that as i was planing to get some in the spring ..

plates are different (and they SHOULD NOT be there is only one shape that would fit the caliper i would think ..) now the braking is not that "super" as advertized (eveyone does anyway) ..
seems like i'm going back to searching for the perfect pad.. damn it.

Default Thanks guys... Maybe I was comparing the inner to the outer pads.

But I thought the wet braking for these pads were supposed to be good? It would suck if they have no grip in the wet after paying all that money. =(

Like I said I have not had any issues at all with wet braking on these pads.
