Two kids were racing today in Long Island and the killed two folks in a Jeep.....Its a reminder to becareful if your gonna take it to street. The kids that were racing were 17 and 19....makes me wonder how they got their paws on a vette and a benz. Route 106 for those of you who live near the area....

and killed themselves....hmmm.
You know...I wonder if there were any cars just BEHIND the Vette and Benz or if the Jeep was so inpatient that they didn't judge the distance even remotely correctly.
Right of way is defined as IMMEDIATE USE of the lane and the Jeep most CERTAINLY did NOT have right of way.

of distances is impaired severly at night.
Not that I'm making excuses, because it was, IMHO, the racers who should be blamed for excessive speed ALONGWITH the person who made the left turn onto incoming traffic.
Either way, there is some serious idiocy involved on BOTH parties. It's just sad.

Two separate drag races between young drivers.
One race, driver lost control and hit/killed a lady walking home.
Both drives are in jail and awaiting trail.
Other race, one of the cars hit a couple coming out of their driveway, killed them both.
Both drivers againg in jail and awaiting trail.
The whole road racing scene is getting way out of hand.

Scenario is this:
3 lane going each way road. Speed limit is 35 at all times. The #3 lane (extreme right) is used as a parking lane except for morning and evening rush hour, where it becomes just another lane of traffic.
There is heavy traffic. Each way has it's own left turn only lane controlled by a traffic signal. Traffic in #1 and #2 lane is stopped, and not blocking the intersection. The light is green. There is no stoppage of traffic in lane #3, so traffic moves at posted speed.
So imagine if you will, two cars in the #3 lane proceeding through intersection when a vehicle turning left from opposite direction into the intersection and crossing the path of traffic in #3 lane.
Collision happens. Who's at fault? Common sense would dictate that the traffic in #3 lane has right of way and the person turning left from oncoming direction must wait.
Well guess, what? The fellow turning left won, regardless of all the witnesses accurately describing the situation. It went to court and the judgement declared as such.

Every day, several people will pull out in front of me or cross dangerously close making a left...and I look in my mirrors and there is NOBODY there.
2 seconds of waiting would have avoided a potential disaster but nooooo...they HAVE to go even though they really aren't sure it's safe.
