Audi needed Cosworth to squeeze out the extra 25 ponies for them?
"The 4.2 litre V8 twin turbo engine of the RS6 produces an output of 450 hp in the standard version. The 475 hp racing engine of the RS6 has been developed in cooperation with Cosworth Technologies in the UK. "

Audi needed Cosworth to build an engine that could...
that could sustain that hp through out the season of racing. I imagine peak hp for a dyno or strip run is easy, building an engine that races at peak hp every week for hours on end is why they get the big bucks.
