I never knew oil could make such a difference. I had Amsoil 5w40 in there prior and the turbos were much louder. The car overall seems to run smoother with the german castrol. Just wanted to share.

Default Hmm... you're the 2nd or 3rd person who's said that. Guess I need to switch to Castrol too. I still

have 7 qts. of M1 left though. :-(

Default Might have to try that next seeing as how the M1 5w40 Diesel T&SUV hasn't shown up at any local

retail outlets near me yet.

Default Hot weather?

Does anyone have concerns about using the lower-weight oil in hot weather? Atlanta summers get pretty hot, and I am interested in switching to German Castrol but am concerned about the difference between a 30 and a 40-weight.

The German Castrol is a thick 30 weight, almost a 40, and it doesn't shear like the M1 0W-40.

Default Noticed the same thing when switching from Amsoil 0W30 to GC 0W30...

Turbos were initially much quieter, but now they whine again. Better than with the Amsoil, but nowhere near silent. It's a curse some of us have to live with. It's not all bad though...if the turbo lady does visit, we'll invite her in for a cup of tea and then we'll go to town.

Quick Reply: Changed oil from 5w40 to castrol 0w30 and turbos are near silent....
