Charging system trouble
My car decided to start overcharging the system (17+ volts) after hard braking on the interstate. I pulled over and called a tow truck believing my voltage regulator had gone out. Get the car home and goto start it the next day. Not to be unexpected i had a dead and bad battery. I replaced the battery and confirmed with a DMM i was over charging. Went out the next day to look at what it would exactly take to replace the radiator and i had a dead and bad battery again. Is this still a problem with the alt or possibly a direct short somewhere else?
Cliff notes, will a bad alternator cause a known good battery to go bad and dead overnight with only starting the car to do basic voltage tests?
