My source (MCN) states the fastest was 188-Busa and 186-ZX-12. The blackbird was 174 - I beat one last summer on my suzook.

In 2000, the manufacturers agreed to cork the big bikes artificially at 189 mph. The '99 Hayabusas (Black and Copper trim), weren't yet limited, and would do an honest 195 mph. You can nix the limiter on newer years, and get similar results. (Okay... so that's not stock, I guess... but since you haven't added anything, does it really count as modified?) After that, you can simply lose the mirrors and change a sprocket... See what happens! Dos Deuce Zeros!
Even if we use your numbers:
188 > 185
186 > 185
...which was what I said in the first place:
"Big bore 'Zuki bikes were doing 185 in the early 90s on air cooling. Today's wet bikes do it stock."
Anyways... we should shut up now because I find myself wanting a bike again, damnit!

We all know those are faster. The Honda is the slowest of the bunch and will need a lot to hit 200+.

...Besides, where does the article say the bike was stock?
I realize that I said "today's wet bikes will do it stock", when I made the comment about big bore sportbikes doing 185 in the early 90s... and some of them will, but that hasn't a damned thing to do with weather that guy could have been doing 205 mph. He could, without too much trouble, and without a turbocharger.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1768521.phtml</a

and adding 30 extra MPH to its top end is no easy feat.
How many 20 year olds have you seen with turbo sportbikes?
