Checked 2001 MTM gen2 boost levels with VAG-COM
For the most part requested boost was right on with actual boost (duh, but I was glad to see that). However I was a bit surprised to see that requested boost was never more than a little over 1.1 bar at the low-mid range, where some have said the MTM would hit 1.3 bar. Basically it was 1.1 - 1 bar by about 5000 rpm, then it would go under 1 bar and eventually reach about 0.8 bar by 6500-6800rpm. I also have an MTM exhaust and AWE intake...

Yeah I meant to mention - 70 deg temps, 94 octane, and <1000 ft altitude
Now i thought the boost is cut when the MAF airflow signal gets high enough (for example in cooler temps) to achieve a target 'torque' level. Is it also possible that by doing intake/exhaust mods, you hit this target sooner (before it gets too cold out) because more air is flowing into the engine, and as a result it cuts boost a little? I did always wonder if mods like that make no difference when it is freezing cold out, because the chip can easily achieve its target 'torque' level on its own.

Hmmm but in this case it is making the *same* power at less boost, right?
Although I can't really argue that either - however it still seems to defeat other mods to improve airflow (in colder temps), if the car will never go beyond a preset level of power in either case.
